PWC: Tanzania's hotel industry has a bright future

October 8,2018

According to PWC's hotel industry outlook (2017-2021), the hotel industry in Tanzania will maintain good development in the next five years, and five new hotels will open soon.

The report forecasts that the number of hotel rooms in Tanzania will increase by 14% from 2016 to 2021, with an average annual growth rate of 2%. The number of overnight stays by tourists will increase from 1.6 million to 1.8 million, the occupancy rate will increase from 56.8% to 58%, the average cost will increase from $140 per day to $174, and the total room annual revenue will increase from $224 million to $371 million, with an average annual increase of 6.9%.

Meanwhile, the mainstream tanzanian media daily news reported on August 21 that the hotel industry in Tanzania cannot meet the current actual reception needs, with a bed gap of over 30,000, which has affected the rapid development of tourism.

2017-2021 plans to open five new hotels in Anantara, Rotana, Element, Melia and City Lodge in Tanzania, adding a total of 800 rooms.
